There’s a famous story called the princess and the pea. A real princess would be sensitive enough to feel a tiny pea below several mattresses.
The "pea" is the problem.
The one thing that keeps showing up no matter how many mattresses you put on top.
It’s the hidden friction—behavioral patterns covered under layers of titles, achievements and medals.
You can‘t outperform the pea. My work is simple: we find the pea and remove it.
In grand tour cycling, champions aren't built in isolation. The GC rider wins because of the support of the team.
My job as a coach is to protect you from crosswinds, supply you with nutrition and put you in the best possible position to break away.
While it can get psychologically cozy, I‘ll remind you to break away.
You will break away in sessions, outside of sessions and long after our work has finished.
Many riders have the opportunity to break away, few take it.
Once you break away it’s heavy lifting. It’s incredibly hard.
Chances are slim to win the stage. Most breakaways will be swallowed by the peloton.
Will you try again?
I live and breathe endurance sport. And everything I coach, I apply in my own life.
Years ago, I broke away from a career in corporate. While it had its purpose then, it wasn’t serving anymore.
I became a coach and without much awareness I found myself in corporate trainings. I’ve realized that while I was now the coach on the outside, I was still in the same environment. Not because it was right but because it was familiar.
Patterns are very hard to change or see immediately. Breaking away is like peeling off an onion. It stinks and burns—but it’s the only way.

Working with Heinke has truly been one of the best decisions in a long time. From day one, she has not only been a coach but also a mentor and a constant source of support. What I value most is how she approaches high performance: it’s never just about the numbers or the physical sessions, but about building a strong, focused and resilient mindset. Something that, as a professional athlete, makes all the difference in training and most importantly on race day.
Heinke has an incredible talent for understanding exactly what you need, both in your daily life and in your headspace, to unlock your full potential. Her honest feedback, sharp eye for detail and calm, encouraging way of guiding you through both highs and lows have helped me grow tremendously as an athlete and as a person.
I’m really grateful to have her in my corner and I can wholeheartedly recommend Heinke to anyone who is serious about pushing their limits, chasing their goals and performing at the highest level. Most importantly all while staying true to themselves.
